    At Horizon Personal Training we treat every athlete as an individual. This is especially necessary for individual athletes like runners. When trying to increase performance it is necessary to understand the specific needs of that athlete.

    With cross country athletes we start with a sport specific screen to discover any compensations that athlete it is experiencing. One of the most crucial aspects of distance running is efficiency. If compensations are causing opposing muscle groups to work against each other, then the athlete will not run efficiently. We look for these compensations and correct them.

    We also work on aspects cross country that can be improved in the gym. We focus on speed drills to help work on form as well as strength training to improve muscular endurance. We also put special emphasis on power to help athletes with their finishing kick. We focus heavily on core as it will stabilize your athlete through their run.
